Sometimes
(Letter to Leehi, 8th grade)
To Leehi
sometimes you get lost
and so you need some encouragement.
Sometime life seems black
as if God didn’t make other colours.
Sometimes you seem to be in a mine-field
and there's no way out.
Sometimes you want to escape all your problems
and stay somewhere in a dream-world.
Sometime you just can't understand
why flowers bloom anyway.
Sometimes you think there's no hope left
no light at the end of the tunnel.
Sometimes you want the waves to wash you away
and never bring you back.
Sometimes you want to break all the frameworks
and sometimes all your illusions shatter.
Sometimes they don’t seem to understand
unless they’re in your situation.
They have no idea
what they're saying.
Sometimes life is like the sea;
calm one day and stormy the next
and the day after the storm and drama
we walk on the narrow lines.
Sometimes we love, sometimes we hate
and then we discover
that these emotions, supposed to be opposing
are actually very close.
Sometimes we're sad with no reason.
I don’t know, it's hard to explain.
It's like a bacteria
that goes in and out freely.
Sometimes they don’t seem to love you,
don't pay attention
and they’re not the people you know
suddenly - they’re strangers.
And sometimes you think you’re solitary
everyone's left you alone.
Sometimes you think why am I like this?
Why do they hurt me,
why are they all so perfect?
And sometimes, occasionally, lots of things happen to us,
but you have to remember that this is only sometimes
and although it feels that way, it doesn't mean
that it's really happening.
