AND THEN THEY FLEW KITES
"Nitzanim" Elementary School in Tel Mond hosted children from the "Ibn Heldon" School in Taibe. This yearly meeting began several years ago—the fifth graders meet and participate in joint activities in order to build friendships and team spirit.
This year, the joint meeting was held under the auspices and leadership of the Association for Commemoration of Bat-Chen Shahak, headed by Ayelet Shahak. Under Ayelet's instruction and assistance, the children built and decorated colorful kites with similar Hebrew and Arabic words. In the next room, other children learned and took part in various juggling and motor and balance activities.
After this, all of the children went out to the play yard and took turns flying and displaying their beautiful kites. Besides parents and children, other spectators included the Tel Mond's Mayor Shlomo Ratzabi and a delegation from Sarasota, Florida under the charismatic leadership of Clay Thomas.
The rain clouds dispersed for these few hours and fun was had by all.
